Counseling and Support for the Community
Counseling - Master's level therapists and interns provide counseling services to adult and child victims of emotional and physical abuse, rape and sexual assault and to survivors with co-occurring disorders (substance use and mental health disorders). Counseling services are offered to shelter residents and members of the community. To learn more, read our Privacy Policy. Domestic Violence Orientation - educates on the cycle of violence and the characteristics of batterers, victims and abusive relationships. The class is held every Wednesday night from 5:00pm to 6:00pm (arrive at 4:30pm to fill out paperwork if this is your first time attending). It is open to the public and free of charge. Limited childcare is available; please call 343-3688 ext. 17 by 10 a.m. on the preceding Tuesday to reserve a spot. This number is for childcare inquiries only.
RAP - A weekly support group for women survivors of domestic violence. Meets Wednesdays 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at the Women's and Children's Alliance, 720 W Washington Street, and is free of charge. First time participants must attend Domestic Violence Orientation (4:30p.m. to 6 p.m.) before attending RAP. Limited childcare is available. Circle of Support - A free support group for survivors of child, adult and intimate partner sexual abuse. This is an eight-week group that meets every Thursday at the Women's and Children's Alliance from 3:30-5 p.m. For more information, please call 343-3688, ext. 49. NOTE: This group is not currently meeting -- but will resume in the May/June timeframe.
