The Shop's Entrance Gets a Colorful Makeover
The Shop, the WCA's boutique thrift store, has recently undergone a bit of an external makeover. Local artist, Susan Helton, donated her time and talent to the WCA to cheer up the entrance to The Shop. Helton painted a garden scene on The Shop’s stairwell, complete with a little boy, colorful rocks, flowers and animals.
“This is a great improvement for The Shop. I think it will really impact our customers as they come and go, especially the children,” said Jolene Sterling, The Shop Manager. “We’ve had a lot of great feedback from shoppers and visitors. It’s a great addition to the neighborhood!”
The mural is not the only beautification that has taken place at The Shop in the last year. In the fall of 2009, the interior of the thrift store went through a redesign that included restructuring departments, painting the walls and decorating. See pictures below.
In addition to structure and décor changes, The Shop has recently seen an increase in sales, new customers and donations. Located in the basement of the WCA building at 720 W. Washington, The Shop is open on weekdays, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Donations of new and gently used items are accepted during these hours. For more information, click here.

1st Annual "Man Brunch" a Success!
Over 200 people spent the beginning of their Father's Day this year at Chandler's Steakhouse for the 1st Annual "Man Brunch." The food was delicious, the music by local musician Rob Paper was phenomenal, and the guests enjoyed wonderful service from Chandler's staff who were donating their time. A few lucky winners walked away with fun prizes, including a golf package in Sun Valley and a night out at the Shakespeare Festival. All in all, it was a success, and hopefully the beginning of a great WCA tradition in Boise.
