Freedom – “the power to or right to act, speak or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.”
Many of us take that freedom for granted in our daily lives. We live in safe homes with people who love and respect us. We are free to make decisions for ourselves, to come and go without asking permission, to have our own thoughts.
Every day I get to see how acts of philanthropy and compassion help make freedom possible on deeply personal levels for our clients. Every $120 donated helps provide one day of safe shelter, counseling, court advocacy, child care, case management, job skills training, financial empowerment coaching and so much more for a mom in one of our shelters.
A mom who recently moved out of our shelter wrote: “This has been an amazing experience. WCA has helped me with steps making it much easier to get back on my feet. Thank you so much!”
She and her children are free from abuse and free to move on to build healthy relationships and launch their own dreams for their futures. Freedom is an amazing gift.
