Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) takes place every October. Throughout the month, there are numerous events and activities the WCA and other agencies do to raise awareness about the issue of Domestic Violence.

Highlighting the month is the Clothesline Project, displays of T-shirts created by survivors and their loves ones about their journey through safety and healing to freedom. Dates and times of opportunities for you to create a T-shirt also can be found at the link above.
Here is a list of all the events and activities planned for October.
The SueB 5K Memorial Walk/Run
6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5 at Ann Morrison Park
This family-friendly, fun run celebrates the life of Susan Newby who died in what is believed to be a domestic violence incident. Velma Morrison will fire the starting gun, and Boise State University Men’s and Women’s tennis teams will cheer on the event participants. All proceeds will benefit the WCA’s SueB Endowment Fund.
Idaho Premiere of “Three of a Kind” to benefit the WCA
7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Egyptian Theater
The domestic abuse at the heart of this taut thriller provides a vehicle to begin a community dialogue about how best to support people in abusive relationships. A panel discussion following the film’s debut should provide some interesting perspectives. The WCA will receive all proceeds fromticket sales.
Lotus Hair Spa Cut-a-Thon to benefit the WCA
Noon to 5 p.m., Sunday Oct. 14

Half price haircuts and chair massages - ALL proceeds to be donated to the Women & Children's Alliance.
Smart Women,Smart Money Conference
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 at the Boise Centre
This free workshop provides women with the tools they need to take control of their financial future. WCA’s financial literacy graduates of the Treasure Valley Economic Action Partnership will be honored during the luncheon. The event is hosted by the Idaho Office of the State Treasurer.
Swap-A-Fair to benefit the WCA
2 .m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at the WCA
Pare down, trade in and trade up. Swap-shopping is an eco-savvy and wallet-friendly way to update your look for less.
