The Women’s and Children’s Alliance provides safety planning for individuals experiencing abuse or in an unhealthy relationship. It is important to develop a plan and to review it as often as possible. Some things to consider:
  • Let trusted friends and neighbors know of the situation and develop a visual signal for when help is needed
  • Plan a code word with the children that signals them that they should get help or leave the house
  • Put aside emergency money, as you can
  • Hide an extra set of car keys
  • Pack and store aside 1-2 day’s clothing
  • Know your community resources
